Your Place To Connect With Friends!

Barry has mentioned in his show about checking out some other shows, concerts, productions, sites, etc in Vegas.

Alot of people spend the whole week in Vegas seeing Barry on Wednesdays, Friday and Saturdays. There are some nights that Barry is not performing. So, my question is: What other shows have you seen and would recommend to others that are looking for something else to do in the evening?

Recently, a friend and I saw Jersey Boys and Menopause. Both shows are excellent and worth every penny. And the Palazzo is an gorgeous new hotel. One night that Barry cancelled a show, my husband and I saw Rita Rudner. OMG, she was hilarious. That is a fun show to see if you are married or are in a relationship. See if with your spouse if you have a chance. My stomach hurt from laughing so much. I have talked to several people who have seen LOVE and said that was a great show as well.

Of course, Music and Passion is the #1 reason for going, but Vegas has a ton of entertainment, so, give us some of your recommendations.

Hi Pam,

For Menopause, we purchased the tickets at the Hilton the day of the show. For Rita Rudner, I called Harrahs and purchased the tickets through the box office on the day of the show as well.
My friend purchased tickets for Jersey Boys about a week or so before the show. I think most of the shows you can purchase tickets the day of the show. From experience, the box office holds back a small amount of tickets and then they release the tickets the day of the show. Surprisingly, you can get some really awesome seats that way (even for Barry's show).

With regards to finding out what is playing which night, go to www.Vegas.com. Most of the time there is a magazine in the hotel room that highlights the shows/events for the week in Vegas. Also, utilize the concierge service at the hotel where you are staying. They are a wealth of information.

Are you going to Vegas soon?

Hi, Debbie!

We went to see "Love" by Cirque du Soleil at the Mirage & it was nothing shy of BRILLIANT! I highly recommend it to all music lovers out there!
We also did something a bit "out there"...we took the Haunted Vegas tour! My hubby is into that sort of thing, so I thought "why not?" It was actually pretty cool!

This time around, when I go in July for a friend's wedding, I have no choice but to pass up Barry (it'll be heartbreaking seeing the Hilton and knowing there isn't a show for me to see there!). We plan on taking in Bette Midler's show and "The Rat Back is Back," which I have heard GREAT things about! Can't wait!

Though, Vegas isn't the same without Barry, I'm sure!

You are SO right Debbie. There is so much to do in Vegas. Why go and "live" at the Hilton. It's amazing what you find once you venture out those doors. I've seen Mamma Mia (awesome if you like Abba's music), Mystere (good if you like Cirque de Soliel), Tournament of Champions at the Excalibur (tons of fun with a meal included) and of course Jersey Boys (fabulous) and Menopause (still recovering from that one!). I've seen Rita Rudner too and she is a must see. Any comedian is usually a sure bet in my book. My friend who is a concierge has seen Elton John and Bette (both of them were great shows). There is a half-price ticket booth at the Fashion Show Mall that usually has tickets for the shows the day of. You can get some good bargains there as well.

One of my favorite things to do is enjoy the FREE entertainment at the hotels. Many of them have piano bars with dueling pianos (a total blast). My favorite is the NY NY. Those guys rock the house every night at 8PM until 2AM.

Great idea for a post!

i agree with you about menopause. i saw that last year, & it was hilarious.. funnier than i expected..

and also glad to hear you enjoyed momma mia. i have atrip planned at the end of this month & purchased tickets for that show on a night barry's not performing. i hate to say it, but he's only performing 1 time while i'll be in town. but that could be a good thing, i'll have to do other things & won't be tempted to keep going back to see barry. i'm sure i'll make it back to vegas again before the year is over.

So...come on girls...tips for a single bloke travelling alone to go!?

Reply to This

Hi Richard,
Traveling alone is Vegas can actually be fun. I like to sit at the bars in some of the nicer hotels (Bellagio, Wynn, MGM Grand) and strike up conversations with people. You can meet some interesting ones and have some rather nice conversations. Being single, you can sit at the bars in the restaurants and converse with the bartenders while you eat. They know the hot places to go to meet people and where to hang out if you are single. Single show tickets are easy to find and you can usually get some of the best seats at some of the hottest shows because you are alone.

Hope that helps...have fun and hopefully you'll meet someone special!

Of course the ONLY reason i go to vegas is to see barry, but there are some other great shows there. in the last year we have seen Mystere (great) Love (absolutely wonderful) Danny Gans (great) and Blue Man Group (outrageous). I think my favorite was Love - the beatles music is just beautiful and the Cirque de Soleil is a MUST SEE. Enjoy your trip there. bev

Absolutely recommend going to see "V" the Variety Show at Planet Hollywood. David Copperfield as well, but it is better to see him, if YOU have NEVER seen him before. Unfortunately he's developed "VEGAS COMPLACENCY"...meaning he's so comfortable in doing what he's doing, HE is almost bored with it. NOT to say I didn't enjoy it, because he's one hot piece of man candy...LOL.

Check out any of the afternoon magic shows around town.

Half price ticket booths are sprinkled all over town. One is across the street from the Riviera (next to the Peppermill restaurant), it looks like a hot dog wagon (because it used to be), and the other is at COCA COLA WORLD across from NY NY.

If you are into Roller Coasters - the one at the Sahara, NY NY are not to be missed.

Check out M&M's WORLD and COCA COLA on the strip.

If you like shopping - the outlet malls are amazing. If you are DISNEY buff - go to their outlet mall on the south end of the strip.

You can check out the numerous sites on the web about VEGAS. Start with VEGAS.com and go from there.

Check out the White Tigers at the Mirage and the Lions at MGM Grand - phenomenal creatures of beauty.

Hope this helps. Kimberly
