Your Place To Connect With Friends!

A very, very dear friends sister passed away this weekend. She's been in hospice for a month, and he has been at her side the entire time. He's devastated. She's six years older than him, and when their Mom passed away, he was 10, his sister 16, she took over the role of second mom. So for him the loss is even more profound. He's had a difficult year, loss of a job, nasty divorce, his kids issues, we parted just when we were beginning, now this.

Unfortunately he is 2,000 miles away, back in Ohio, and there's nothing I can do right now, but pray and be as supportive as possible by phone. I am hoping he will come here for a much needed rest and some much needed time together, for both our sake.

The point of all this; when I heard the news, I immediately heard Barry singing 'We Live On Borrowed Time'. A song I don't often listen to, and have never heard him sing live. Yet there it was clear as day playing in my head, the lyrics clear as a bell.

I know it might sound a bit out there, but it made me feel better as it reminded me we do need to cherish every second we have with those we love, and if we have deep feelings for someone, we need to tell them. Even if they don't share what we feel, it's a good thing that they know.

So to Barry I say once again thank you for helping me over another rough patch in life. To everyone else I ask you keep my friend, his family and his departed sister in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you
Helen Holdun

I will say a prayer for your friend. I have heard Barry singing 'We live on borrowed time' live and it always brings brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of friends and family that have sadly passed on and that it was not always possible for me to be there. However when I hear that song - I can take comfort in the fact that they knew that I loved them and always will be in my thoughts. So I try to tell friends and family how much they mean to me because you never know what is around the corner.
Take care
Julie

Helen,
I'm sorry about your friend's sister. With any luck, he'll be able to come and spend some time with you and rest his heart and find a little peace.

Barry's catalog of music is varied and eclectic....it seems he's got a song for every mood and situation.
Bless his heart for sharing it with all of us and giving us so much music to help us through our good times and bad.

Helen:

I will keep you and your friends in my thoughts and meditations everyday. I believe in the power of prayer and the fact that you need to say Thank you for everyone and everything in your life everyday. You never know what is going to happen and yes "we do live on borrowed time."

I have had a similar experience, lost my dad May 12th and mom June 9th exactly 28 days apart! Barry kept my spirits up on the drive there and back and "If tomorrow never comes" kept playing in my head! I will keep your friend in my thoughts and let him know "Life will go on". Gee, so many of the songs Barry sings apply and comfort!
You are being a good friend in just being there for him and being a listening ear!
