Today is Vetrans Day~~A Major holiday For the United States, Canada & most places in the world!! It is similar to Memorial Day in the United States. What constitutes a Major holiday vs. say just any other Holiday? Well a Major Holiday is when the city & goverment agencys are closed i.e. there is no mail, pick-up or delivery, no trash pick-up etc. One of the only differences here between Vetran's Day & Memorial Day is that most stores are open unless they CHOOSE to close!! OK Pam, FOCUS~~back to the POINT of your blog!!
Vetrans Day is ALWAYS on Nov. 11 no matter what day of the week that that date falls on. On this day people fly their flag, have a parade, give honor to their living vetrans & remember the ones that are no longer w/us. We also remember just exactly WHY these men & weman are so special & are worthy of our rememberance of them & what they have done of us & our country to earn our respect & honor by fighting for us to keep us a Nation of proud people whose men & women fought for our lives & liberties to keep them safe & to keep us free!! We owe alot to our vetrans & this is the WHOLE purpose of vetrans day, to show our love & respect to our vetrans ~~ALL our vetrans the ones that are still w/us & especially the one that are NOTfor those are the very ones that GAVE their very lives for us to keep us free & safe!! We NEED/SHOULD be willing to give back to them too, to show our gratitude one day a year to say THANK-YOU for ALL that u have given us & the sacrifices u made to make that contribution. So, don't u think it fitting that they have their OWN day & that we SHOULD honor them on this one day of the year, that this day should be JUST FOR THEM? I DO!! All 5 of my Uncles were/are vetrans, 4 of them are gone now. Today just might be the PERFECT day to call my Uncle Johnny & say Thank-You, don't u think??

Thanks Cool Girl !!!! There have been people in my family who have served in the military since the Civil War. I was in the Army & belong to DAV & the VFW. We went out today to Apple Bees who were nice enough to give Vets a free meal, & they thanked us for our service. I wish we all could just finelly live in peace....maybe one day we will. Till then....God be with our troops & their familys...& all the peeps behind the sceans that help to keep us safe. Say "Hi" to your Uncle for me. My Uncles served also, in WW2.

It is the Soldier, not the Reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to fair trial. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the protester the right to burn the flag.
