I got the most depressing news I've had in a while and I am just sooooo sick! I was flying out to see Barry for my 50th birthday celebration. I had a ticket in the VIP section on the right side of the stage, row BB seat #2. It was going to be perfect. I've waited almost three years to see him. I was flying my son and daughter out with me and they had some really great tickets on the main floor up front too. I was dreaming, hoping, praying that Barry would pull me out for a dance since I had such a great ticket. I ordered this awesome dress, jacket, and shoes for the event. They were delivered the day that I got the e-mail from the Hilton Box Office. The e-mail said it was a ticket confirmation, not a cancellaton, but I had already received the ticket confirmation earlier. This one looked like it was crediting my card back with the money though. My heart dropped. I called the Hilton Box office and they said that the concerts for the last few days in October had been cancelled. I was in shock! I have been planning this trip for almost three years. I really could just die. I don't have a lot of money and saved for a long time to take this trip. I tried to change my flight but the airline company wouldn't let me plus they were going to charge me hundreds of dollars. So, it looks like we're going to have to go to Vegas anyway and not see Barry. I may never get to go back out there again and even if I do someday, my children will probably not get to go with me. I may never recover from this. Does anybody know why the shows were cancelled?? I sure hope that Barry isn't sick!

I know exactly how you are feeling - I had tickets for a concert at Hilton for my 50th birthday as well. The night of my tickets - Barry was ill and the concert was cancelled. I could have died (but I was glad to hear he was on the mend) - I was already in Vegas when this happened - Thankfully - the Hiton was fabulous and got me tickets later that week - same row too!!

But now I am waiting for the rescheduling of the June 2009 concerts - and I am not too hopeful at this point. In June I went to Vegas anyway and had a blast!! I booked another show to fill the void - even though that show was terrific - I would have rather been at the Hilton.

Hi Margaret Ann,
I'm sorry that happened to you too. At least you got to see him later in the week. There's no hope for me. But, I see the same thing happened to you in June, 2009 also. Hopefully you will get that worked out soon too. Yeah, I guess we can go see another show somewhere to fill the void too. It won't be Barry but maybe it will be alright. Thanks for replying. It's nice to have an understanding ear from someone who's been there.
Sincerely,
Teresa Helmes

Hola Silvia,
Good good to hear from you my friend. Did you have tickets to this concert or another one?? I am so sorry that your first concert to see Barry was cancelled also. We can try to make each other feel better if that's possible.
Guess, it's just back to watching his videos again. Maybe we'll get to see him "Somewhere Down The Road." Talk to you again soon.

Sincerely,
Teresa Helmes

Well tell me about it! My Platinum was for Oct 30th and waiting a year and two moinths has been for nothing. I got my money from the hotel refunded and I'll wait and see about how soon they refund my $1500.00 I paid for the ticket but the money for the airline ticket is pfftt!! No getting that back. so maybe we can drown our sorrows together. I'm just really disappointed in the whole thing!! I'm sure someone saw this coming!! And it's not illness, it's a month away! I'M BUMMED!!

Hi Pat,
Bless your heart. I really hate that you paid all that money for a Platinum and you waited all these many months and these shows got cancelled. I really would "just die" if I had had a Platinum scheduled to actually "meet" Barry and it got cancelled. Man, that is really a bummer for sure. I guess you've got me beat. There are just no words to express how sorry I am that you're plans got messed up like that. Yes, we can try and drown our sorrows together. So, does anybody know what happened? The lady at the Hilton said I was one of the lucky ones. She said there is a lady who was flying in from the UK and she had tickets for all three nights and of course all three nights were cancelled. I guess that poor lady lost her airline ticket money too. I don't think she would fly in to Vegas if she weren't going to get to see Barry. Well, I guess we can plan to go another time, but who knows if that will work out either. I'm pretty burned. I don't know if I want to take a chance again or not. I guess we'll just have to see. I've got to say that this pretty much ruined my year. I hope we'll both feel better soon.

Sincerely,
Teresa Helmes

I just got a notice from ticketmaster that the show I was going to on October 18th in San Diego is postponed, but that's local for me. I live in San Diego. I was taking my best friend for her birthday. I hope the concert gets rescheduled and not cancelled. I sure am sorry your show got cancelled, though. That's terrible news. I read something in this forum about Barry having some surgery coming up. That's probably why he cancelled. He'll probably be recovering from whatever it is. So, you won't be seeing Barry, but there's lots of fun to be had in Vegas. Go anyway and live it up!

Hi Elizabeth, I just wrote a very long reply and lost it! It is late and I don't have time to re-write that again so I just want to say that we did go to Vegas and we did have a great time. I missed Barry so much though. I hope your concert works out and please blow a kiss to Barry for me too!
I did find out that Barry had his surgery on Monday and was resting at his estate in Palm Springs. I'm glad that he is feeling better! You just haven't experienced Halloween, unless you've spent it in Vegas. It was wild! Take care and thank you for replying to my post. I really hope you and your friend have a great time at the concert! Sincerely, Teresa
