Somewhere to stay?

I have just pressed the button and am now the proud owner of a platinum ticket for Dec 7th. This is a dream come true, now I just need somewhere to stay for the three nights I am over in the States. Has anyone got any suggestions? I have never been to the states before and will be on my own so it needs to be quite close to the theatre and as cheap as possible. If anyone fancies a lodger for the three nights let me know.lol

I just got back from Palm Springs - there are many great hotels to choose from. As I was only there a few days I didn't shop around too much I just stayed at the Casino Resort and Spa. It was great and very reasonably priced. Some of the other places are much much cosier/nicer/quainter and would give you a better feel for the area but this was fine.

The best way to find good accomodations and their rates is to google or yahoo up 'US hotels in Palm Springs'. Or similar verbiage. lol They'll also give you distances from the concert site.

You can register online.

I might suggest you try and contact Helen Holden who posts here on a regular basis. She is a resident of Palm Springs, a very big supporter of Barry, and, she works for a local newspaper...The Desert Sun, which has a section dedicated to Barry. I am quite certain that she could direct you to someone at the local Chamber of Commerce or Tourism board that would be more than happy to assist you.

Good idea, Wayne, but she doesn't live here: I just need somewhere to stay for the three nights I am over in the States. So she can't make calls. lol

Besides, the internet has compares the hotels/motels according to price, distance and amenities.

Thank you Anne. Do you live in the states? I have found a place for £225.00, for the three nights. How much would I be looking at paying roughly for cabs from the airport and from my hotel to the theatre? I think the hotel is around 10 miles away from the Theatre. The hotel is called the Quality Inn -69151 East Palm Canyon Drive

Yep, I live in the States, but, in New York, not California.

Email your hotel to see whether they have free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and then back. Most hotels do - they want business. Some will have a free shuttle to the theater.

If they don't have a shuttle, they may have a livery service that take groups of individuals to the theater, etc. Email them directly with these questions.

If they have none of these, then, they would be the best place to ask regarding taxis.
