What Gary and I are proposing is a personal service that would be provided to us from time we entered to the time we left. We still need to discuss it more.
Alot of times the handicap seating is not where we'd really like to be sitting, it's more like 'take what you get and feel lucky'. We should be able to choose better seating, etc and assistance to get to and from them. This is what I want to hash out.

Hi gang I have reading about getting tickets for Chicago. If you go on Rosemont Theatre website they have a section to buy tickets on that section there is a rectangle on the right side of the page it says for disabled sitting click here . Good luck

Arthur and fellow members,
I emailed Gary Oye about trying to bring forth concerns for us 'disableds'. He responded today and I think, even though there's only 15 of us we should each take his advice. Janice

Hello Janice,

Please direct your request to the Barry's management c/o the BMIFC address in L.A.

8295 S. La Cienega Blvd.
Inglewood, California 90301
310-957-5788
Fax: 310-957-5789

Or you can try contacting them through the Order Desk (orders@starz.bz).

Might also consider establishing a "Local" Fan Club through the BMIFC as another avenue for spreading awareness. Go to the BarryNet - His Fans - Local Fan Clubs - Setting Up A Local Fan Club, for details.

Thanks for visiting the BarryNet!

Dear Janice, I know what you mean about having family concerned about you when you travel. After I had my leg amputated in 2004, I made it my quest to see the Daytona 500. My sister did not want me going at all. You know, first trip in a wheelchair. When my best friend backed out for work reasons she really didn't want me going. I ended up going with a friend, of a friend, of a friend whom I had never met. She really got uncomfortable once she found that out. Everything went fine. Strange at first, but I made two new friends.

As far as the concerts in Chicago go. I am thinking about going too. I just got in touch with an old friend from Michigan State and I have been looking for an excuse to go see him. However, money might be a problem. Just got back from vacation down south.

If I can I'm going. You only go around once and I don't want to have any regrets.

Well I'll have regrets of course. Kisses I didn't steal, girls I didn't tell I loved them. Girls I did. And of course, the one that got away.

Barry on the other hand, I can go see him. Tell him I love him . . .Well I don't know.
Take Care and God Bless,
Art

I'm actually mulling over two trips. Chicago would be nice...but the weather, ugh, my arthritis aches like crazy. On the other hand, I have a friend in Palm Springs and could kill two birds with one stone. Go in their winter, which is nice temps, hang out in the parks and restaurants and who knows, maybe I'd see Barry. My family opposes any trips because of the cirrhosis, my doctor doesn't give me a lengthy time and I think they want me here when I die.
We'll see, I'd do best avoiding the cold.
I'd need to get educated on the American disability laws, I'm from Canada. Take care, Janice

Janice,

Having someone with you is a big help. I am also thinking of going to Chicago. I'd like to do some museum hopping...it's an excellent reason to go!

Not everyone knows the ADA (Americans with Act). You have to speak up sometimes. Some business owners don't pay attention because they seem to think no one will say anything.

Someone once made the point that we have to speak up ans educate and use the legislation.

Now that kind of service is what I was looking for. In Rochester they seemed far too busy to bother. I need to open my mouth more often and also stop going alone. Have a great day.

Jan: I too am sorry that you had such a terrible experience. I also need a wheelchair, I can walk a short distance and when we saw Barry in Cleveland and Columbus, OH I called the arena and was told they had wheelchairs available, all I needed to do was let them know at the gate. One of my friends let us off near the door and I used my cane to get to the door. We had some time before the doors/gates opened for entrance, and since it is hard for me to stand for any length of time my friends saw that I was getting tired and said something to the guard at the door, they then got me a wheelchair to sit in until time to enter the arena and then they escorted us to our seats. They also took our seat numbers down so that at the end of the concert someone was sent back with a wheelchair to take us back out. At the Cleveland arena they even took me all the way to the car in the garage. They told us that they keep 6 wheelchairs available for any event. I couldn't believe how great they were. In Clev. we were right down front and it was wonderful. In Col. we had wheelchair seats, on the first set of risers, you can get those at most of the venues which help alot.
When I saw Barry at the Rosemont it was before I needed a wheelchair, but I remember that it is not really hard to get around it, its one of the older venues, also the Rosemont hotel is right next door, if you want to check it out, we stayed there and it was great because 3/4 of it was filled with Barry fans. We went to one of the clubs afterwards at the hotel and had a blast with a lot of the fellow fans. Seeing Barry two nights in a row and having fun with the group priceless.

Brenda; I'll take your advice and discuss my experience with the venue. I'm thinking of going to the Chicago concerts, but this time I'll be smarter and bring my Nurse/Caregiver with me. She's a fighter and will get me what attention we may need.
And yes, Barry is worth the cost of bringing my caregiver and raising some 'cain'.
