I had a conversation with a new student at my school while doing my crossing guard duty. He didn't feel like anyone cared about him. He said I probably didn't even know his name. He was shocked to find out that I did. First name, and last name. He...

My Hillary loved mushrooms! One night I was eating leftover pizza when she jumped up and started sniffing at it. The next thing I know, she's pulling a mushroom off the pizza!

Let's Hope The World Grants These Wishes in 2010

How many times in your life have you heard the words "precious baby"?

Most of us will expect to hear and see these words a lot during the Christmas season to refere to the Baby Jesus. But "precious" is something we say automatically, unthinkingly, about babies.

I've been thinking about children who might find the words "precious baby" to be wounding or unsettling. Life does not universally treat babies as precious. The disparity between those words and the realities of many children can be so… Continue

My Barry Manniversary

To most of you, this is February 24, but to me, this is "My Barry Manniversary." It was on this day back in 1978 when I became a fan.

I had heard Barry on the radio from time to time back in the early '70s, usually "Mandy" or "It's a Miracle." I thought "oh, it's nice," but I didn't think any more of it. Until one cold February night....

If you saw a previous blog about when I almost (horrors!) gave Barry up, you will remember that the jerk (I can't think of a better word other than "loser cre… Continue

I'm not so sure now....

First, please let me begin by saying that I have enjoyed being here. I have also enjoyed reading about all of you who have met Barry, whether it be at a Platinum, singing "CSWY" or even through a chance encounter.

I have listened to Barry for almost 31 years, more than half my life. I have seen him live 10 times. Naturally, my desire was someday to meet him, if only to say "thank you", if only for a moment. As time went on, I knew that it would happen in one of two ways: if I would have a life-… Continue

This is Dedicated to Those Born Between 1930 and 1979 -- This Includes YOU, Barry!

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, '50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate bleu cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with brightly colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmet… Continue

For Jessica

This is my first-ever attempt at poetry -- the words come straight from the heart.

For Jessica

I wish I could stand at your grave,
But I live so far away.
I would come and talk to you
Each and every day.

Through spring rain and summer sunshine
Autumn leaves, winter cold and snow
No matter what, I would be there
I just want you to know....

I am so sorry, dear Jessica
For what I said and did that day.
I thought only of myself and not you
On that cold November day.

Why, oh why, dear Jes… Continue

Dear Kaaren:

If you're talking about pictures, the main problem is that I seriously don't know how to do it. all I have is my camera disc, or whatever it is in the camera. I think you make a disc of it, but then I have to find a computer place that I can figure out what to do with them. When I did it before I was working and the system there was pretty good, so that is my dilema. If you can help let with information that would be great, but remember I am computer illiterate, so telling me to put in in my O drive, or my Q drive will only confuse me??? LOL

Every mother knows that hair rollers are one of her biggest weapons. I went from using them almost every day (for decades), to once in a while and now don't even use them at all. They're just too heavy and it takes an hour to set my hair. Besides, if it's humid, it only frizzes up any way and if I want to keep it nice, I have to wear a hat. Too much now and no patience for it.

I don't see too many woman in them either any more. But, if I do, I don't judge. Because they probably have hair like mine, have a ton of errands to run, yet, want to look really nice for a special event.

Kaaren,

My husband is doing much better and is home from the rehab. He came home on 8/11. And he starts home therapy for 2 weeks. And after that he goes to therapy on the outside.

Yes I did see Barry tonight on 8/14 and Barry was fantastic. He even sang a couple of songs fro, the Mayflower. And he had us laughing while he was talking to us and he also asked us to sing with him. Barry was just superb. And he threw us a kiss twice. And he came down the stairs and said "I DO NOT WANT TO GO HOME YET". 'HE EVEN JOKED ABOUT TAKING HIS CLOTHES OFF". He had us in stitches.

kAAREN,

My husband had a knee transplant on his right knee and that was on the 15 of July. Now he is in rehab and on the 27 of July we found out that now he has a blood cot in the calf of his right knee that had the knee replacement.

Please say a prayer for him. I would appreciate it very much.

Kaaren,

Yes I did get home safely. Thanks for asking. And I hope you could save your money and maybe see Barry in NJ. That would be fun to see each other again.
And yes breakfast was fun and I really do wish you were there. If you
can manage to go to NJ you will have to go out with us after the concert.
Barry really put on a smashing concert.
If he comes to the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia I hope you can make that concert.

Hugs
Noreen
