Mr. Kunzel and the National Symphony Orchestra treated the nation to a delightul performance on the 4th of July. In the celebration they included Aretha Franklin, music from the great Mr. Gershwin, Jersey Boys and singing puppets. But most of all, they gave us Mr. Barry Manilow.
Mr. Manilow was so elegant in his white jacket. He sang the songs that touch our hearts and the songs that make us dance. He was charming. His voice was great. Mr. Manilow was splendid.
Toward the end of the show Mr. Manilow came back to perform the patriotic song "Let Freedom Ring". I was hoping he would add this song to his program. He had changed into an exquisitely tailored black jacket. Accompanied by a chorus and the full orchestra he reminded us "Let Freedom Ring ... Take the dream... Pass it on and on and on".
Indeed, let us do that!
Thank you Mr. Manilow for making this 4th of July special and memorable.
