What Might You All Be Reading?

We all know that Barry is a reader and enjoys a good book. I would love to hear him discuss some of his favorites, but I must admit I have never been much of a reader over the years. I did read Sweet Life; Adventures On The Way To Paradise the day it was available! But that was then. Now, I think I've read more in the past year and a half than in the previous 15! A good many have been informational, self help books. But sprinkled in there were a few that were just for pure pleasure. "A Million… Continue

Holding Out For You

Who's heard the new gem from the Vault? Holding Out For You. Love this one!!!! This is my favorite so far. Would love to hear a completed version (OR LIVE BARRY??????) of this one. Especially the line "...sometimes I need a woman because I'm just a man". He said that Clive thought it sounded too muich like Even Now, which I disagree with. Thanks Barry, so very much. Nancy

A Little Piece of Heaven....

Hello. I had the most lovely day I wanted to tell you all about it. So here goes. I went to my sister's about an hour's drive away so she, her hubby and I drove maybe 30 minuts to a place north of Santa Anita Race Track and had the most beautiful hike. We arrived about 11:30 am, backpacks filled, raring to go. We had my sister's dogs with us (Orion & Benny) and they were so excited. We followed a stream most of the way under a canopy of lush trees, in between walls of rock, ivy, trees, root… Continue

Silly DJ.....

Today I was in and out of the car from 9am to 8pm. Whew! I'm tired. Around noon I had the radio on and switched to KOST just in time to hear Weekend in New England. When it was over I clicked another radio button to an AM station just in time to hear Ready To Take A Chance Again. When this song ended the dj, a female who's name I don't know made the strangest (and dumbest) comment. She said "ya know, he doesn't have the best singing voice, but he does write the best songs. No one can sing his so… Continue

Hey Nancy! No, I have not read that book by Dr. Dyer or Dryer ..... whatever his name is lol, but I have read one of his past books I can't remember the name of it right now! *Senior Moments* I love em' (Sarcastic):-P

If you have a shopping mall nearby where you live, you can see if they have a Borders or a Barners and Noble that might have a book club there. I know Borders here has a book club every Tuesday, where they discuss current books. One day they have a metaphyiscal book discussion as well.

I am sorry your husband is not interested in what Eckhard has to say. It might be his 'ego' saying that he feels "superior" because he thinks he already "knows it all" or he feels threatned by self-help stuff and does'nt want to hear "the truth" about that he does'nt know anymore than any of us do. It's just a superiority complex in men! lol (Yah, I'm psychoanalyzying your husband LOL go figure! Or he may not be interested in someone picking his "smart brain"!) Yah, righto! - lol At any rate, that book has helped me deal with people who are like that. I have a nieghbor who feels that she nees to be "in the know" all the time before anyone else is and if someone else "knows" something that she does'nt know, she diminishes them to make herself superior by "correcting" them and saying that they are the "wrong ones", and she is the "right one". She's such a liar! :-P

Hi Nancy

Something happened today that I couldn't believe. I was photocopying something, and I thought to myself "I need a plastic wallet to put this in", something distracted me and I looked over at my husband's desk, the copyier is right beside the desk, there, on top of the pages I had already copied was a plastic wallet. It was definately not there before, it had obviously fallen from the top of the chest that my husband has all his work files on, it was so strange that the very thing I thought about needing, appeared to me in that moment. I really didn't think the law of attraction worked that quickly.
Since I've read The Secret, I have found myself doing things I would never have dreamed of doing before, it is the Secret that got me ordering tickets for all three nights at the O2, not only that, but I've even put in a bid for front row for the Sunday, I would never have done that before. Suddenly I'm not worrying about 'how' I'm going to do something, or finding excuses why I shouldn't do something, I'm just making myself believe that I can, that feeling of thinking about something as though it has already happened is very powerful isn't it??
Thanks for the names of those other books on similar subjects, I also believe in it wholeheartedly, the first time I read it though, I thought it was a load of rubbish, but something made me read it again, and that was it, I was hooked. My whole life has changed because of it, and I think it should be made compulsory for everyone to read it (lol).

Nancy,
I spend tons of time at Barnes and Noble. I've actually read books while I was there. I wish I had more time to do it though. The thing I love about Joel's books is that you don't have to read them all at once. You can pick them up and read a chapter or two and get so much out of them. Thanks for the topic...always love your blog posts.

Thanks for the reading comment, Nancy. I have read the Sidney Poitier book. His writing style is different from most. When people talk about books, I get a better feel for if I want to read the book or not.
Take care and keep in touch!

Hi Nancy,
Your Mom sounds cool. My mom would have done the same thing. In fact, I think she has. A lot of her friends tease her about being a fan.
It was 90 here on Tuesday, but pleasant today-in the 70's. I like the hot weather, as long as the humidity is low.
Talk to you soon,
Marion

Hi Nancy,
My mom is a fan of Barry's too, and whenever anyone says that they don't like him, she tells them that they're just jealous because they can't sing as well, aren't as sensitive, etc. Have a great day!!

Yep, Nancy, our Barry is a real stand-up guy. A mensch, as they'd say in Yiddish. His family, I'm sure, is very proud of him as are we as his fans! :D
