I've already been looking for a nice dress to wear when I meet Barry! By February I shall be exhausted! LOL
Today, I went to book my airfare and got such a shock at how much the dollar has affected the price, I sure picked a good time to finally go over! Barry is worth it no matter what....
I've got a busy weekend with friends and functions. I should have got an early night tonight, but as usual, I came on here to see if there was anything new.
I'm going to have a hot chocolate now and then sleep.

OMG I am so sorry, I have been meaning to email you but I am so excited and trying to settled down!
YES! I got a platinum for February 20th 2009! I can't believe it, it hasn't hit me yet.
Long story.....I could only get over in May which is why I wanted that month. A few reasons, I am not keen to say in an open forum really. Apart from my fear of flying which I have decided to just ignore and GO for once in my life, I also have a medical problem. Won't go into details but my specialist gave me the all clear to fly and the first thing I wanted to do was to g to Las Vegas to see Barry as this is my dream.
I thought I would be in good health by May and that is why.
As it turned out, I just cannot get a platinum for May, so I found there was one left for Feb 20th and I grabbed it!
I think it was "mean to be" as I also got time off from work in Feb which is unheard of (someone resigned and I took his leave), I now need to hasten up my health for Feb and meet Mr Manilow!
It will be my dream come true Beth as I am sure you understand.
I wish so much you could come over, you have been such a good friend and have helped me so much.
How did the ladies get on who went over recently? did any of them meet Barry?
OMG I am soooo excited! It keeps hitting me....!
I have a 23 hour flight in which to think of what to say to him.
We will have to exchange email addresses somehow Beth. I will have lots to tell.

OMG I know I'm so, so, so excited!!! This will be my 2nd arena show. This is the same place where I originally saw Barry and well you know the story. haha. I will have much better seats this time though. haha. It's a pretty big arena though. Not as big as say Madison Square Garden or something, but it's pretty big. Barry has played there quite a few times I know since the 70s. When you go to an arena show it's just a different atmosphere. Well one because you know the whole audience are fans and it's just bigger and Barry's able to make the show longer. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us especially since it's Valentine's Day and it's benefitting charity. I'm sure he'll be doing some non-hits too, which will be amazing. I really can't wait though. it's 103 days away though. The anticipation starts again!! The anticipation is half the fun though. This show will be so different because I'll be at home all day waiting to go see Barry. I'll definitely be having a Manilow marathon and I'll probably be posting on here like crazy! And oh yeah this was the thing I had my mouth shut about. See, you didn't have to wait long to find out! :)
But in regards to your other comment...I don't think CSWY will make it to London or Broadway either. Copa was understandable, but this show doesn't seem to have as much credibility.
I'd love it to be hot and humid here rather than windy and cold. My Australian friend always teases me and tells me to go enjoy my cold weather. I can even hea rher say it in her little Australian accent. haha. I should just go live in Australia in your summer months. haha.

Just saw your comment. Yes, I do have my Platinum on 1/16 and will also be at the 1/17 & 1/18 shows. Hope you can make in and would love to meet up with you. Right now I know only of two other fans who will be there at that time. I only know of one other fan who has her Patinum on that day, but there's got to be at least 8 others. Let me know if you can make it.

Oh no, I got it but it sometimes takes me a few days to write back to people. I'm so slow sometimes especially when I'm busy. Like I'm a week or so behind in my emails. I'm not ignoring you or anything.
Thank you for your condolences about my great grandmother. I've actaully been thinking about her a lot the past few days. It always seems you regret not saying something or asking something and when you think to say/ask something it's already too late. But she's in a better place and I know she's keeping an eye out for me. Like you said about your fairy godmother, Edna (coincidence?), it must be remembered that she had a great life.
I was wondering about your trip to the UK actually. I saw something about the CSWY musical and I thought of you knowing you were taking a holiday there. but I'm veryhappy to hear that you guys had a great night at CSWY. I don't know how I'd feel seeing another guy singing Barry's songs. To me, it'd be so weird. I saw Chesney Hawkes, which is the lead guy's name, perform Mandy and I really didn't like it. I just think after hearing Barry sing it hundreds of times, you get hs voice embedded in your mind.
But I hope everything else has been good for you. :) I'm sure it's starting to get warmer there. Lucky! It's chilly here today. I got the fire going. And now since last night was Daylight savings, it's going to get dark here at like 5. I hate that.
But I'm going back the same time next year. At the end of August. Except this time I'll be doing 3 shows. I will be seeing him before then too, but that has to stay secret for another few days. I'd tell you, but I just don't want others to possibly see. I've been sworn to secrecy. haha.
That'd be great though if you were able to go to Vegas and coincide with your anniversary. And yeah sorry about the US having a bad economy and screwing it up for everybody else. haha. But I do hope you can make it back there in January. But I'm sure you'll make it back at least once in 2009. :)

Since I emailed Roseann, I have been day-dreaming in anticipation that she will allow me to purchase her ticket.
I would be exactly the same as you Beth! Infact, I better not have a glass of champagne.....I will start to talk non stop for a minimum for 4 hours! LOL LOL
I am already sooooo nervous at the thought of being in the room alone with him after so many years of admiring him and his wonderful voice and talent. I think it will overwhelm me and I shall probably forget my name or something!
I will join the Aussie fan club and I am already interested in going to Las Vegas in 2010 with you. If I am lucky enough to purchase the platinum ticket this time, I will only take a normal concert ticket next time, giving other fans a chance to meet him if they haven't before.
Oh, I think you would have a wonderful 40th and the memory of your special birthday if you went over to Las Vegas in 2010.
One of the other reasons apart from my fear of flying, for me suddenly wanting to venture over and meet Barry after all these years is that I have had a health scare a few months ago, and have kind of being given a 'second chance'. I decided to make the most of it and one of my life dreams is to see Barry in concert.
Life is precious Beth so I do think you should make your special birthday a wish you have probably wanted for years!
Next May is also my birthday, but not a significant one!

I will save up more and be better prepared for 2010! I've noted the time difference and how fast you have to be when the tickets go on sale!
Yes, I am a member of the BMIFC. I did not know of any Australian club until I came on here and met you.
I would love to attend a 'Barry party'! next June perhaps.......
Finding this web site has been fun for me and after reading so many of the lucky fans reviews of concerts and of their meetings with Barry, I feel I know him almost! He certainly seems such a lovely person, and everyone on here are so nice and friendly.
My best friend is a Donny Osmond fan (when we were young, I got smitten with Barry and she got smitten with Donny!) Awwww!
She is going over next year to see Donny at the Flamingo. He's there with Marie doing shows. If she copes okay with the long flight, I might get her to come with me with I see Barry the year after.
I think this is getting too long, I could talk more but better not bore you any longer!
please keep intouch Beth, I sure would love to chat a LOT more about Barry!

Well, I am home from my Vegas adventure and boy was it an adventure. I loved Vegas, such a vibrant place with so many interesting people, would definately love to go back again, with the family, they also would love it.
Barry's shows were fanatastic, it would good to see him so close up.
Had stage seats on Fri night and was lucky enough to get a handshake and a wee copa dance with him. It is a shame he is not doing the dance on stage at the moment but I was quite contented with my small brief contact with Barry. Unfortunately none of my friends got a photo, but that is okI will always have the memory of that night and that will last a lifetime.

Many thanks for letting me know how you got on over here. So glad you had good weather, and a nice time. I guess because it was a Thursday that Can't Smile was not a full house. Pity though. When I went to Bromley I think it was full. Don't remember seeing any empty seats. It is the same with Barry 02 shows, I see there are still some tickets for the Thursday, but the Sat. is sold out. But there is still time for them to sell.
So glad you got to the farm and enjoyed it. Great seeing the two of them even if briefly. I think Jimmy is extremely busy and very hard working. I must go there sometime. I don't drive unfortunately and it is quite a way from here. I have also been on the London Eye, wonderful views too. Your were lucky to have a fine day to see everything. When we went we then walked through to Covent Garden. There is always sometime going on there, and some interesting little shops. I was actually born and lived in London until I married at 21 yrs. although it has changed so much now I hardly recognise the place.

I just saw you posted on the forum, and wasn't sure if you are back in AUSTRALIA NOW. I do hope you had a good holiday over here and enjoyed the Can't Smile show. When you have time, please let me know how things were for you and if the weather was kind.
